Emerging report indicates that some All Progressives Congress, APC, Senators under the auspices of Parliament Support Group, PSG, and Governors, have risen against Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
This came as they are doing everything within their reach to stop the National Assembly from vetoing President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to assent to the newly amended Electoral Act.
The PSG is led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who was recently removed as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum.
Recall, that Buhari had written to the two Chambers of the National Assembly, in March, announcing his decision to withhold assent to the amended Act.
An official of the PSG, who declined to be named, revealed that the group has so far signed on 46 Senators.
He said the number “is more than what we require to block the veto. We only needed 36, which is the simple majority.”
It was gathered that to perfect the plan, the Lawmakers enrolled support of Governors loyal to President Buhari.
“20 out of 24 APC Governors are with us, and they have constituted a Committee under the Jigawa State Governor, to sort out this National Assembly issue”, the source said.
According to him: “Some of the Governors have given their National Assembly members a marching order to sign on, and we are still expecting more members.
A source close to the PSG, said the group is meeting on Tuesday night, with some Governors and government officials, to further strategise on their next steps, as millions of naira may exchange hands to lobby more Lawmakers to join the group.
Governor Okorocha is in charge and has vowed that Saraki must be removed. Click box below to See list of powerful Governors and senators sponsoring this deadly move in the senate
